Ion channel
We offer two types of ion channel libraries, SoftFocus and FieldFocus, designed using different but complementary techniques. SoftFocus libraries have been specifically designed to interact with the pore regions of voltage-dependent ion channels while FieldFocus libraries are designed to target the binding region of ligand-gated ion channels.
Ion channels are involved in a range of physiological processes and have a range of pharmaceutical actions and roles in diseases. They are an increasingly important target class in current drug discovery projects.

SoftFocus ion channel libraries
The SoftFocus compound libraries have been designed using our proprietary design tool Helical Domain Recognition Analysis (HDRA). This tool links X-ray data, sequence alignments, mutagenesis data and structure/activity relationships to design new compound libraries to target the pore region of voltage-dependent ion channels.

FieldFocus ion channel libraries
The FieldFocus libraries have been designed using molecular field technology developed by our partner Cresset. This method considers a molecule’s field pattern, rather than its structure, giving a more accurate representation of its binding properties.
FieldFocus ion channel libraries target the binding region of ligand-gated ion channels. Using this approach, novel libraries mimicking the binding of natural and synthetic ligands to transient receptor potential ion channels, have been developed.
